Watson remains with Warriors while Brown, Simpson and Glasby sign up

Callum Watson

Whitley Warriors are delighted to confirm that long serving winger Callum Watson will be donning the maroon and gold for the 2016/17 NIHL North Division 1 season. Watson has established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in NIHL hockey during his career with Warriors and his speed will no doubt trouble many a defence during the upcoming campaign.

Callum averaged better than a point per game last season and his best seasons statistically were back in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 terms when he accumulated an impressive 49 points. He is also more than capable of sticking up for himself and his teammates and has proven that he will drop the gloves against anyone he comes up against.

Warriors can also announce that Liam Brown, Niall Simpson and Lawson Glasby will all also be part of the Whitley senior set up for the 16/17 season. Some fans may remember blue liner Lawson Glasby as he has appeared in NIHL North in the past for the Sutton Sting and iced for the Billingham under 20’s last season.

Niall Simpson is a young d man who impressed the Warriors coaching staff in pre season try outs. The youngster will no doubt be hoping that he can follow in the footsteps of Warriors blue liner Joe Stamp who came through the try outs last year and went onto become an important player for Whitley over the 2015/16 campaign.

Another new player to the Warriors roster is Liam Brown who operates as a forward and played with Whitley as a youngster before taking some time away from the game. Liam will add to Warriors forward options as he becomes accustomed to NIHL North hockey.

Whitley Warriors can also announce that Scott Cooper will not be part of the clubs squad next season due to personal reasons. Warriors wish Scott all the best in the future both on and off the ice.
