Whitley Warriors can confirm that Rory Dunn has joined up with the club and will be 1 of the sides 3 goaltenders next season alongside senior netminder Richie Lawson and youngster Jordan Boyle.

Rory has had some time away from the game in recent years however he has plenty of experience to call upon having played for Warriors, Newcastle ENL Vipers and the Billingham Bombers in ENL/BNL hockey in the noughties. Rory also represented Whitley and Sunderland in junior hockey when he first started off in the game.

Rory spoke about his hockey career to date and also gave his thoughts on the upcoming season.

“I played for Warriors when we won the grand slam and then went onto play for the Newcastle Vipers for a season when Lobby (David Longstaff) was with the Vipers. I then played for Billingham for a season before deciding to take a break from the game.

“I got back into playing and iced for Islanders in recreational hockey and was asked to play for other teams at that level. I then spoke to Lobby and asked if I could try out for Warriors and it all went from there really. I know a lot of the lads in the Whitley dressing room already as I played junior hockey with many of them.

“I’m hoping to just get back into the swing of things as quickly as possible as it’ll be a big step up for me but I’m going to do my very best for the team whenever I get the opportunity.”
