Skipper Bryan Dunn to leave Warriors

WHITLEY WARRIORS player/coach Simon Leach today confirmed double-winning skipper Bryan Dunn would not be returning to the club next season.

He also revealed Adam Reynolds would take over the captain’s role when the 2010/11 campaign gets under way.

Leach said: “After two chats with Bryan, he has decided to take some time out of the game.

“It is his decision, but we have to respect that.

“I would like to thank him for all his efforts on behalf of the Warriors, not only last season as captain, but for all the others years he has given the club great service.

“Hopefully, he may be back at some point in the future.”

However, with Dunn now leaving the club, Leach has had to decide on a new skipper for the side.

Reynolds, a former English Premier League grand slam winner with Peterborough Phantoms, is his choice.

Leach added: “Assistant coach Kevin Dean and I sat down and discussed potential candidates for the job, but decided Adam would be the ideal man to lead the Warriors.

“He will be a very different type of captain to Bryan, who was very passionate about the role.

“As our leading scorer last season, Adam will very much lead by example.”

Whitley hold their end-of-season awards night at Rockcliffe Rugby Club tomorrow night (7.30pm) and the club will be launching a scheme which could see a local business become the 2010/11 title sponsor of the Warriors.

Leach added: “We have 100 tickets available priced at £50 each.

“The winner of our prize draw at Whitley Bay Ice Rink Bar on July 14 will also receive all the benefits of our main sponsorship package, worth £5,000.

“Tickets will be on sale at our awards night and we will also have comprehensive details of the package for people to take away and show perspective companies and their own boss.”

Full details are available here or further information – and tickets – can be obtained by emailing the club at management@whitleywarriors.net or by using any of the numbers of the sponsorship package.

Leach added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for any company or individual to be the main sponsors of the current ENL North league and play-off champions.”
