Boosted by Dunn

Whitley Warriors will be looking to consolidate second in the English National League table when they entertain 5th placed rivals Trafford Metros at Hillheads tomorrow night and are boosted by the return of experienced forward Bryan Dunn to the side, after he has missed the last four months of the season through injury.
Trafford beat the Warriors 6-2 in the north west in the opening game of 2012, but skipper Rob Wilson feels that result should have no bearing on the game tomorrow.
“It was our first outing after the Christmas break and it was a poor performance with us perhaps a little too relaxed, so we maybe took the opposition too lightly on the night,” he said.
“However, that won’t be the case this time,” he admitted, “we now know what the Metros are about and what kind of threat they can pose.
“In some ways they are a very similar side to ourselves,” Wilson added, “and that should make for a very entertaining game between two sides who will give nothing away cheaply.
“The top five seem to have broken clear of the rest now,” he continued, “and while we are still chasing Billingham for top spot everyone is well aware of how important it is to keep picking points up from all games - as we haveshown by the way we came back at Coventry and Nottingham in recent weeks - so a win against one of our rivals is essential .”
The Warriors captain is delighted to see Dunn back in the team and believes his experience could be vital in the run-in to the end of the regular season.
“He’s been back in training for a few weeks now and has been given the OK to start playing, so that’s a good player to have returning to the side as we reach a crucial point in the campaign.”
As well as Dunn, Kevin Bucas and Ally Brummitt both return to strengthen the defence and Wilson is looking forward to the extra bodies at the back.
“Kevin is such an experienced player, he is a real asset to us,” said the former Newcastle Vipers defender, “while Ally is so steady over the 60 minutes and having them available will help ease the pressure on the defence.”
Tomorrow’s game gets underway at 5.00pm, with the doors opening 30 minutes earlier and seats are available on the night, priced at Adults £7.50, Under 16’s & Concessions £5.50; while a Family Ticket is available for £22.
