Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce that they will be taking on the Kirkcaldy Kestrels over the weekend of the 22nd/23rd August. Warriors will head north to Fife to take on the Kestrels on Saturday evening (face off 6.30pm) before hosting Kirkcaldy at Hillheads on the following evening. The home game is set to get underway at 7pm with an under 18 game likely to take place before the senior match up.

These warm up games will see player/coach David Longstaff’s return to the Warriors set up while summer signings Shaun Kippin, Jordan Boyle and Andre Payette are all likely to be involved against the Kestrels. Supporters will no doubt be keen to see the new look Warriors back in action after a break from hockey over the summer months.

Warriors met Kirkcaldy up in Scotland around this time last year when the Scottish National League side narrowly lost out in a well contested match up and it is anticipated that this season’s games will prove once again to be competitive affairs between two well matched organisations. It is hoped that Warriors NIHL North Division 1 league fixtures will be released in the next week as the EIHA starts to finalise the schedule for all the leagues that operate within their organisation.

Hillheads will be hosting a skating gala to celebrate 60 years of ice sports on North Tyneside on Sunday August 30th which will include an ice hockey skills segment. A number of the Whitley roster are likely to be involved including Canadian import Andre Payette who has linked up with Warriors over the summer months. Tickets are currently on sale priced at £4 with all proceeds being donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. Further details will be released on the gala shortly.
