Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Rihards Grigors.

Twenty-nine year old Grigors will be known to Warriors fans from his time at Murrayfield Racers in their NIHL North Cup-winning side of 2019-20. However, he has played in leagues in Finland and Germany as well as his native Latvia. Most recently, he iced for Fife Flyers in the EIHL, having previously played for Milton Keynes Lightning and Edinburgh Capitals in the same league.

General Manager Paul Matthews said, “Rihards is a fantastic addition to the roster and a signing the Warriors fans will appreciate. He’s a dedicated player and has great experience within the British leagues.

“We know him from his time playing for Murrayfield against us in the cup format and cup final and we respected his talent then. He holds the same desire and work ethic the Warriors have and we feel he will settle in well within our tight knit group.

“Rihards will vastly improve our defensive unit and he will go straight into the squad for this weekend’s games.”

Rihards said, “After speaking with Paul the last couple of days he told me about set up and team and I am really looking forward to playing for the Warriors and meeting my new team mates and challenging for silverware.”

Welcome to Whitley Warriors Rihards!
