DJ remains at Hillheads

DJ Good

DJ Good will continue to ice for Whitley Warriors next term as the long serving forward has agreed to appear in the maroon and gold for another season. DJ has been part of the Warriors set up for around 15 years now and can operate at either centre or out on either wing.

DJ’s best season stats wise was in the 2011/12 campaign when he managed to pick up a career high 45 points lighting the lamp an impressive 23 times that season. Last term DJ averaged better than a point per game as he totalled 34 points in the 32 appearances he made for Warriors during the regular NIHL North season.

As well as operating for Warriors for a number of years DJ can also call on experience from playing for the Edinburgh Capitals in the Scottish National League and a brief spell with the Newcastle Vipers in the Elite League as well some junior international experience with England under 19’s and Great Britain under 18’s.

DJ shared his thoughts on remaining part of the Warriors set up and how NIHL North will take shape this year.

“I did consider not playing this year as I’m obviously a year older now and think it will start getting harder each year at my age however I’m looking forward to the new season getting underway.

“The other teams in our league seem to be getting stronger and bringing in imports so it’ll be a tough league again this year. We have a strong core to our team though and a good bunch of lads, and both of these factors contributed to my decision to continue playing.

“Solihull and Billingham both look very strong for next season and it will be interesting to see how Blackburn develop as a team and to see if Sutton benefit as it looks like the Spartans will not playing this year.

“As far as personal ambitions go I’m just trying get rid of a few injuries and get fully fit so that I can contribute as much as I possibly can to the team. I want the Warriors to compete out on the ice in every single game, it should be a very exciting season once again with close games and good quality hockey.”
