Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce the return of forward Jordan Barnes to their roster for the 2022-23 campaign.

Heading into his thirteenth season at the club, having played all of his senior ice hockey at Hillheads, 29-year-old power forward Barnes won consecutive league titles with the Warriors between 2009 and 2011 and, as part of Whitley’s on-ice leadership team, his efforts were critical in helping his side to secure league silverware again in 2020.

A demanding physical presence on the ice, Barnes is also proficient in front of the net, notably registering his best points tally of 15 goals and 14 assists in 35 league games during his 2017-18 campaign. Barnes also recorded more than 20 points per season for three consecutive campaigns from 2016 to 2019.

However, Barnes will miss the first games due to an upcoming operation on a knee injury sustained in the gym just before the playoff weekend last season.

“I obviously played the playoffs which now, looking back, seems stupid because I probably made it worse and now require surgery,” he explained. “It’s a hard pill to swallow but I’ll be on the bench every night supporting the lads and offering any help I can to the coaching staff.”

Welcome back, Jordan!
