Fixtures officially released for 2022-23 season

The National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) has officially released the fixtures for the upcoming season. Whitley Warriors will once again compete in National Ice Hockey League North Division 1 Moralee, the Moralee Cup and in a challenge cup competition with Edinburgh Capitals.

Deeside Dragons rejoin Division 1, having been without home ice for some time. The division has a 2H 2A format for league fixtures, though there are no separate fixtures for the Moralee Cup. All nine teams will compete the for Cup with the first game home and away counting to the Cup standings. The top four from the nine-team group will play in the semi finals, 1v4 and 2v3 over two legs.

For the post-season, the top eight will play in the quarter final round (1v8 2v7 3v6 4v5) with the Finals Weekend on 8th and 9th April.

Once again the respective league champions of Britton and Moralee will playoff for the National Championship in Coventry on Sunday 16th April .

This season, Warriors will open their account on Sunday 4th September at home to Nottingham Lions, who will be looking to continue their run of positive results from 2021-22. Going into the Christmas break with a local derby against Billingham Stars on home ice, the season climaxes with a rare Saturday home game in March against Blackburn Hawks before the final home fixture against Solway Sharks, who will be looking to retain their NIHLN1 title. There is one game away to Widnes Wild that is still to be arranged.
