Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Liam Smedley.
26-year-old Smedley iced for Newcastle Vipers, Northern Stars and Billingham Stars junior clubs before moving to the Whitley junior set up in 2013-14. He made his senior debut in 2014-15 and has proved valuable patrolling the blue line over the seasons he has had in maroon and gold. After some time away from the game, he rejoined Warriors late last season and is eager to get started on the 2024-25 season.
“I can’t wait to get going again,” he said last week. “There’s no denying that last season didn’t go as we thought it would but I believe with the group we have there’s no reason why we can’t have a lot of success this season.
“Liam had a solid season on D and I’m looking forward to welcoming him back this season,” said Head Coach Tony Hand.
