Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce that experienced forwards Jordan Barnes and Shaun Kippin will be part of the Hillheads set up for the 2017/18 season that is set to get underway in early September. Both players have enjoyed the last 2 seasons under the tutelage of the coaching duo of David Longstaff and Dave Holland and will be looking to have another successful campaign this coming term.

During the last couple of campaigns Jordan has established himself as a versatile player who can play in a number of different positions when the need arises. Jordan is most often used in a power forward role on the wing however he can also centre a line when required and also provide defensive cover for his team back on the blue line.

Despite playing in a number of different positions last season Jordan was still able to have a career high season points wise as he was able to tally 25 points (made up of 10 goals and 15 assists) in the 26 games he iced in which almost doubled his previous best points tally in senior hockey.

Shaun was also amongst the points last season as the popular forward contributed 24 points to the Warriors cause while wearing the ‘a’ on his jersey. Shaun who is now in his 2nd spell with the club is a consistent performer who gives his all every time he steps out onto the ice in the maroon and gold of Warriors.

Jordan shared his thoughts on re-signing for Warriors and how he saw the up coming season panning out.

“The thing that prompted me to re-sign was how much I enjoyed last year playing wise and the fact that I got a career high in points.

“Hopefully we can push for the playoffs this year as we will have another good group of lads in the dressing room. The league will be a lot faster and a lot more exciting this year.

“Personally this year will be a lot better for me as I am not working shifts at the minute so I can concentrate a lot more on hockey and also I get to spend more time with my son and fiancé.”

If any individual or company would like to sponsor Jordan, Shaun or any of the other members of the Warriors set up they are invited to make contact through the contact page on the Warriors website and then they can be put in touch with the player himself or Warriors General Manager/Assistant Coach Dave Holland.
