Leach adds Ryder, Turnbull and Joe Harley to Warriors roster

Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce that Nathan Ryder, Joe Harley and Mark Turnbull have all agreed to ice for the Hillheads based side during the 2013/14 campaign. Both Nathan Ryder and Joe Harley were part of Warriors first team squad last season while goaltender Mark Turnbull moves up to the senior set up having been part of the Whitley Braves under 18 side last term.

Nathan Ryder brings a great deal of versatility to the Warriors line up as he can operate in both defensive and offensive positions. Nathan picked up 14 points in the 29 games he appeared in last campaign which is a creditable total given he divided his time between operating on defence and at centre.

The signings of Joe Harley and Mark Turnbull ensure Warriors have strength in depth in goal with the 2 youngsters joining senior netminder Richie Lawson on Whitley’s roster. Joe Harley impressed many Warriors supporters in the 2nd half of last season when he was called upon to start a number of crucial match up’s when Whitley were low on numbers. Joe showed that he is more than ready to operate at NIHL level and the youngster will no doubt be keen to continue his impressive progress this coming season.

The 2013/14 campaign will be Mark Turnbull’s first in the Warriors senior set up however his junior stats make pleasing reading as the teenager saved over 87% of the shots that he faced last year and ended the campaign with a goals against average of just over 3 goals per game.
