Leach thanks fans for their early season support

Whitley Head Coach Simon Leach would like to thank all Warriors supporters for their backing during the first month of the NIHL North campaign. Since returning to Hillheads in the summer Simon has been greatly impressed with the support that has been shown for himself and the roster of players he has assembled on North Tyneside.

Simon stated “I would thank you all for turning out in the numbers you have this season. I think our attendances so far have been excellent and your support makes a huge difference to the team out there on the ice so long may it continue.”

Whitley have already held a number of fans events so far this season including a meet the players night and a supporters quiz and many more off ice events are planned throughout the campaign as Warriors look to engage with their fans as much as possible.

Warriors next home game is this Sunday when Whitley take on Sutton Sting in a NIHL North Moralee Conference match up and a healthy crowd of hockey fans is expected at Hillheads Ice Rink given the pleasing attendances Warriors have had in their first 3 home games of the campaign.

Recent signing Ryan Sample is expected to make his first appearance since re-joing the club against Sutton and Sample’s swash buckling style of play will no doubt excite the fans even further. Ryan is eager to get back out onto the ice and make is presence felt, he has also said that opposing sides should ‘expect everything’ once he gets into the Warriors line up.

Sample has been working in Scotland recently however he has still been able to work on his fitness despite being away from the region “I’ve been training with the Paisley boys in there pre season preparations which has benefited me tremendously in making my return to the Wig Wam.”

Fans are reminded Sunday’s game faces off at 5pm and tickets can be bought right up until face off time in what should be a thrilling contest between 2 of the most exciting sides in the division.
