Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Rolands Gritāns for the 2018-19 season.

The 6’ 2” Latvian will certainly add some steel and stability to our defensive unit.

27-year-old Rolands played in the French top division last season and has great experience, icing in Sweden, Kazakhstan and Russia. Rolands has also represented Latvia at the World Junior Championships in the top division.

We have worked tirelessly to sign Rolands and his style will blend in well with the kind of game we want to play.

The reports on Rolands are that he is a true team player, a defensive defenceman and will do whatever is asked of him to help make us a better team from one game to the next. He has demonstrated an outstanding attitude in our negotiations and dealings so far and we are pleased to invite Rolands into our plans for this season.

Although new to British hockey, Rolands is looking forward to the challenge ahead. “I am excited to be coming to England and playing for Whitley Warriors, it’s a club with a great tradition. I can’t wait to get started.”

Rolands will be flying in next week and we will be doing everything possible to get him in the line-up for the weekend of the 6th October.

We are sure all Warriors fans will make Rolands feel very welcome at Hillheads this season.

If you would like to assist Rolands in any way please feel free to get in touch via our contact page.
