Warriors swoop for defenceman Harley

Harry Harley

Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the return of experienced defenceman and Warriors fan favourite Harry Harley.

23-year-old Harley opted to join Hull Pirates at the start of this season, much to the disappointment of Warriors fans. However, Harry’s work commitments proved to be incompatible with Pirates’ schedule and, in a move that will delight supporters, he has now returned to Whitley.

Harry came through the junior ranks at Whitley Bay and made his Warriors debut in 2011-12, bagging six goals and nine assists from twenty-one appearances in his first season. He also iced for Great Britain Under-18s that year before a move to Peterborough Phantoms the following season. Harry spent much of the 2013-14 campaign at Peterborough but returned to Warriors mid-season and patrolled the Whitley blue line until March this year.

Harry talked to us earlier about his return. “I’m excited to be going back at Whitley for the rest of this season. However I would like to thank everyone at Hull for the last couple months but due to work commitments I wasn’t able to commit to their busy schedule. I am looking forward to be playing in front of the Whitley fans again. The team has changed a lot since last year, I am excited to play with some new faces and all the old ones! Hopefully we can get more wins under our belt and finish in a strong position in the league this year.

Warriors have a rare weekend off this weekend and Harry will go into the squad to face Solihull (away, 24th November) and Solway (home, 25th November) respectively next weekend.
