Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that popular Canadian Phil Edgar will again put on the maroon and gold in 2019-20.

26-year-old forward Phil, from Kitchener in Ontario, played the majority of his hockey in the EOJHL and GOJHL in North America with Ottawa West Golden Knights and Kitchener Dutchmen. He joined Whitley Warriors from the University of Waterloo at the beginning of the 2017-18 season and returned last year as a utility player with the ability to play forward or defence.

Phil spoke of his decision to return to Warriors: “I am absolutely thrilled about signing for the upcoming season. I cannot wait to get back in form and start putting the puck in the back of the net.

“More importantly though, I think given our performance last year we have a very strong team to compete with in the 2019-20 season and big things are to come. I will see you all very soon!”

“We are all excited to welcome back Phil again this year,” General Manager Paul Matthews said. “He is a great lad who is well liked by the team and his infectious enthusiasm rubs off on everyone. Phil was unlucky last year coming into the team late, then picking up an injury but he’s raring to go and is as hungry as ever to do well for the Warriors. He has great vision can make great plays and can score goals no question. We are all looking forward to seeing him replicate his first season.”

Welcome back Phil!
