Wilson confirmed on Warriors 2014/15 roster

Rob Wilson - Solway Sharks v Whitley Warriors, NIHL Moralee Conference, Dumfries Ice Bowl, 23 Nov 2013

The experienced blue liner Rob Wilson will once again be part of the Warriors first team squad during the 2014/15 campaign. Wilson stepped back onto the ice last season for Whitley after taking a little time away from hockey however he was soon back into the thick of the action going up against the top forwards NIHL North has to offer.

Warriors defensive unit for the coming season is now taking shape as Wilson is the 5th d man to be confirmed as part of Whitley’s plans for next term. Wilson could well line up alongside Paul Matthews on a defensive line as he did last year though Alex Lawson, Josh Maddock, and Dan Harris are all also possible defensive partners for Warriors latest signing.

Rob shared his thoughts on re-signing for Warriors.

“I was going to have a year out of hockey or finish completely but with my kids wanting me to play again (and also my dad) I thought I’d do another season. Also I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future with my family/work so I don’t want to miss out now.

“I’m glad to see the majority of last season’s side are back and hopefully by the games get underway we might have added a few more bodies. I think we could do well this year if we knuckle down so I’m looking forward to it.”

Eventhough the 2014/15 season is over 2 months away Whitley’s roster is already looking very strong as the club have been able to sign 2 talented netminders in Richie Lawson and Mark Turnbull the 5 d men mentioned and a host of attacking talent including the likes of Adam Reynolds, Dean Holland, DJ Good and Ben Richards.

There will be no Warriors Wednesday news update next week, Warriors next press release with news on the upcoming 2014/15 campaign will be on the 9th of July.
