Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce the return of forward Shaun Kippin.

Kippin made his debut for the Warriors during their 2002-03 season and went on to feature in a further eleven campaigns for Whitley, during which he accumulated 254 points across 275 league games in the ENL and NIHL combined, before making the decision to retire at the end of last season.

However, missing out on the first three months of Whitley’s campaign proved tough for the forward who has been involved in the sport since he was seven years old, and happily he has decided to re-sign for the Warriors.

Speaking about his return to the club, Kippin admitted, “I’ve played hockey my whole life and in hindsight I wish I hadn’t stopped. I had been training with the team for a few weeks and, after speaking with Paul [Matthews] and David [Longstaff], they offered me the opportunity to come back and I couldn’t turn it down.”

“David [Longstaff] and I are delighted to welcome Shaun back into the fold,” General Manager Paul Matthews told us. “Shaun is another leader with great experience at this level and he fits in well with the lads and our team ethos. The signing of Skippy is a huge boost, not only for the team but for the fans too. He will strengthen our forward lines and give us additional options for the second part of the season.”

Welcome back, Shaun!
