Warriors were without a fixture during the last week however Whitley are in action on 2 occasions next weekend when Simon Leach’s side take on the Solway Sharks and Billingham Stars away from home in NIHL North Division 1 action.
Whitley will travel to Dumfries in the Scottish borders to take on the Solway Sharks on Saturday evening (face off 7pm) before heading to Teesside on Sunday night for a game with Warriors local rivals the Billingham Stars that is set to get underway at 6.30pm.
Warriors currently lie in 6th position in the NIHL North Division 1 standings with 15 points from the 19 occasions they have taken to the ice. If Whitley were to finish the campaign in 6th position Warriors would have to take part in a relegation play off game against the 4th placed side in the division below making everyone of Whitley’s remaining 5 regular season games absolutely crucial to the entire Warriors organisation.
Long serving forward Daniel Good shared his thoughts ahead of Warriors upcoming match ups.
“The fixture scheduling this season have been a real problem. We have had just 1 game in three weeks and now we have 5 over the next 3 weeks. You can’t get any rhythm going and I’ve just not been properly match fit this season because no amount of training can replace actually playing in games out on the ice.
“We have 2 real tough away games coming up and it would be good to cause an upset. People have written us off at times this year but I know the great potential we have in our squad. It would be good to beat some of the top teams and prove what we are capable of. Hopefully we can avoid picking up injuries, have a full team available and start winning.
“I’m looking forward to the derby game against Billingham. It’s always good to get some points against your local rival. We haven’t played well the last two times we have met Stars so hopefully we will raise our game and get the better of them.”
Warriors next home game is on Sunday 15th March when sports fans from across the north east are encouraged to come along to Whitley’s Hillheads home to ‘Join the Tribe’ as Whitley look to get their biggest crowd of the season for a crucial match up against the highly respected Solway Sharks.
The game will get underway at Warriors normal 5pm face off time with doors opening half an hour earlier tickets can be bought on the door and are priced at £8 for adults, £6 for children while a family ticket can be bought for just £23.
