Young wingers Callum Queenan and Kyle Hindmarsh-Ross will both be part of Whitley’s senior squad for the coming campaign. Both youngsters made their Warriors debuts last term and impressed north east hockey fans with their spirit and endeavour.
Both players also played under 18 hockey last term and they will continue to do so this season as they look to continue their hockey education. Queenan iced in 19 games for Warriors picking up 6 points along the way including 2 goals. Callum’s stand out moment during the campaign was picking up the Man of the Match award on his debut away from home against the Telford Titans down in Shropshire.
Kyle H Ross made 21 appearances for Warriors in the 2013/14 season picking up 1 goal and 1 assist during his time in senior hockey. Despite his small stature Kyle gave everything he had everytime ice time came his way and he will be looking to improve his all round game this coming term.
Kyle shared his views on the upcoming campaign.
“I learned a lot last season and really enjoyed it. I am hoping to get even more ice time this season which will help me improve even more.
“I am hoping that not many of my junior games clash with the seniors so that I get to play both as I enjoy the whole experience of senior hockey.”
Callum also gave his thoughts on Warriors upcoming season.
“I decided to come back for the new season because I just really enjoy playing hockey. I hope we can win more away games this season and can make it to the national play offs again.
“All the new signings are really good players and they make our team a lot stronger and this will hopefully enable us to have more success.”
Further signings are expected to be announced next week on Warriors Wednesday as Whitley continue to prepare ahead of the 2014/15 NIHL North season that is expected to get underway in early September.
