Sunday evening’s game saw the Whitley Warriors annual Teddy Toss return for its fourth year and it was the best one yet!
This year’s cuddly toys were donated to The Children’s Foundation, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Baby Box Project Lead at The Children’s Foundation Claire Allin said, “Thank you so much for all the amazing teddies and cuddly toys from the Whitley Warriors annual teddy toss – my car was filled to the brim! These will directly benefit the children we work with here at The Children’s Foundation.”
The Children’s Foundation is a small charity based in Newcastle, doing some amazing work with children with a focus on the following areas:
- Early Years: they are currently piloting a Baby Box project with Gateshead NHS and Barnardo’s. The Baby Box is all about supporting babies in the North East to have the best start in life. This project is midwife-led.
- Mental Health: Fuzzy Subjects – puppets that go into school and work with children around mental health.
- Physical Health: Therapeutic Horticulture, Roots to Health – they work with children at our allotment each week. They do Couch to 2k around Leazes Park.
