Whitley Warriors are delighted to welcome back long-serving forward Shaun Kippin to their roster as he heads into his sixteenth season at the club.
36-year-old Kippin first made his debut for the Warriors as an Under 16 during the 2002-03 season and featured in a further twelve campaigns for the outfit, punctuated by a spell with Deeside Dragons from 2012 to 2014.
Three-time league title winner Kippin then opted to retire from the sport following his 2018-19 campaign but happily made the decision to return to Hillheads in December 2019, having previously accumulated 254 points across 275 league games for the Warriors in the ENL and NIHL 1 North combined.
Last season Kippin was named Alternate Captain and his influence and sterling leadership helped steer the club. Always a presence on the ice and in the dressing room, he spoke of his decision to return to Whitley Warriors for another season.
“I feel excited to be part of a new era. I’m now lucky enough now to be coached by the best two players in British ice hockey in history in Lobby and Tony. I had a good conversation with Tony about his vision for the future with practices and hopefully bringing in a few new faces to help the team.”
“I’m delighted to see Shaun coming back,” Head Coach Tony Hand told us. “He is a big influence in the dressing room and a guy that I know will help develop the younger players in the squad while contributing on the ice.”
