Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Anthony Wetherell for the season ahead.

Another product of Whitley’s successful junior programme, Wetherell started out in 2013-14 icing with the Under 15s and the Under 18s, progressing to fulfil the role of alternate captain for the former the following season.

The forward then divided his ice time between the Under 18s and the Under 20s in his 2016-17 campaign further to making 11 appearances for the Warriors in which he recorded his first senior goal and assist.

Though primarily icing for the Under 20s in the two seasons which followed, Wetherell also made 13 appearances for the Warriors within that time frame before completing his first full season with the senior side. The 23-year-old has been a regular in the Warriors roster since, having his most productive campaign in maroon and gold last season.

Wetherell is relishing the prospect of a new era at Whitley Warriors.”I’m looking forward to working alongside Tony and for him to share his knowledge to help the team and I develop,” he told us.

Head Coach Tony Hand said, “I’ve heard good things about Anthony and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
