Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defenceman Kyle Pow.
Hailing from Nanaimo, BC, 23-year-old Pow has recently been playing with Mount Royal University Cougars but has experience in the WHL with Kelowna Rockets and, more recently, Winnipeg Ice.
Pow, who stands a colossal 6′ 6″ tall, follows in the family footsteps in hockey – his father, Lee Pow, played for Murrayfield Racers and Milton Keynes Kings in the 1980s and 90s. He qualifies for a UK passport but is classed as an import.
Pow is looking forward to getting started with Warriors: “I can’t wait to come over to the UK,” he told us.
“After talking to Tony I’m really excited to be joining the Warriors and believe I can make a real impact in the league, and look forward to getting to know the area and the fans.”
“I’m delighted to have secured Kyle for the coming season,” Head Coach Tony Hand said. “He will be a huge presence on the ice for us and will be a real team player. I’m looking forward to working with him to develop his game and I’m sure he will be huge asset for us. With his size, he will be tough to play against. I’m sure he will be a big hit with the fans”
Pow, who will wear the number 44 shirt, is available for sponsorship straight away – you can buy his shirts for Own and Loan or Player Sponsorship. With Own and Loan, you get the shirt at Christmas but with Player Sponsorship you get your name or business name printed on the shirt!
We’re looking for Warriors supporters who are able to help with accommodation on either a long-term or short-term basis – maybe you have a spare room or flat available to let? If you can assist in this, please email gm@whitleywarriors.net.
