Warriors swoop for King

Olly King

Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of Scottish forward Olly King from Kelowna Chiefs of the KIJHL.

19-year-old King began his career with Solway Sharks at U16 level, remaining with Scottish clubs such as Lanarkshire Lightning U16s and Fife Falcons U20s until 2021 when he had a very brief stint with Billingham Stars U18s. He went on to play for Paisley Pirates that season before moving to Canada for 2022-23, where he iced 27 times for Kelowna Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in British Columbia.

“I’m really excited to start the season off,” said King, who will wear the #25 shirt this season. “I’m looking forward to what this league has to offer and the challenges coming up in the fixtures ahead.”

Head Coach Tony Hand said, “Olly is a good young player that has had experience of playing in Canada and I think he can be an asset to the squad. I look forward to working with him.”

King is available for sponsorship immediately – you can buy his shirts for Own and Loan or Player Sponsorship. With Own and Loan, you get the shirt at Christmas but with Player Sponsorship you get your name or business name printed on the shirt. Two great ways to help Whitley Warriors and get your hands on some unique merch!
