Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that stalwart forward Shaun Kippin has been named as Captain for the upcoming season.
Kippin, in his 12th season with Warriors, was Alternate Captain last season, and stood in as Captain when 2022-23’s captain, Dean Holland, was unavailable for selection. The current longest-serving player in the roster has regularly shown exceptional leadership on and off the ice for many years, resulting in today’s announcement.
Last season’s Alternate Captain Harry Harley will continue in the role in this campaign. His experience and stability are invaluable to the team and he will complement Kippin in the senior roles within the team.
Lewis Crisp, who joined Whitley Warriors only last season, has been named the other Alternate Captain. Head Coach Tony Hand has identified the qualities necessary in a leadership role in Crisp and he too will wear the A on his shirt.
Warriors’ first test of the season is against Crisp’s former club and local rivals Billingham Stars. Tonight [2nd September] the face off is 5:30pm in Billingham with the return fixture at Hillheads tomorrow [3rd September] – doors 4pm, face off 5pm.
