Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Jordan Barnes for the 2024-25 campaign.
Heading into his fourteenth season at the club having played all of his senior ice hockey at Hillheads, 30-year-old Barnes won consecutive league titles with the Warriors between 2009 and 2011 and, as part of Whitley’s on-ice leadership team, his efforts were critical in helping his side to secure league silverware again in 2020.
A demanding physical presence on the ice and inspiring character off the ice, Barnes missed the entire 2022-23 season due to an operation on a knee injury sustained in the gym just before the playoff weekend in 2022. He returned midway through last season and immediately brought a more physical edge to the team. Barnes will this season revert to his more familiar #17 shirt.
“I’m really happy to be signing again this upcoming season as I felt I came in half way through and had to jump straight in. This year I can prepare properly,” Jordan said last week. “Hopefully we can kick on and get the job done next season.”
Head Coach Tony Hand spoke of Jordan’s return: “Jordan is a big character on and off the ice and he had no hesitation in coming back for the new season. He will play a big part in the team this year.”
Welcome back Jordan!
