Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of 18-year-old forward Lucas Campion from Northwood School Varsity in Lake Placid, USA.
Newcastle-born Campion started his junior hockey at Bradford Bulldogs before moving to Billingham Stars’ junior setup through to Under 18 level. He has also iced for Solway Sharks’ Under 16 sand Under 18s, while representing England in Bratislava in 2023-24. A move to the United States in 2023 saw Campion play for Northwood School Varsity in the 18U AAA league. Lucas will wear the #18 shirt in Maroon and Gold.
“It’s been an amazing experience playing hockey and going to school over in the States and I have enjoyed every moment of it,” Lucas told us. “I made the decision to play at Whitley as I feel as though I am ready to take the jump to the senior level, and have been training with the Warriors when I have been home since a young age. It is a pleasure to play back at my hometown team.”
Head Coach Tony Hand had plenty of praise for his new forward. “I’ve been impressed with Lucas when he has trained with us over the last couple of seasons,” he said. “I think he will bring an energy to the team and can make an impact this season.”
