Reid eager for the new season after missing out through injury

Warriors signings 2025-26 - Ethan Reid

Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of 22-year-old defenceman Ethan Reid.

Reid began his hockey career in 2014 with North Ayrshire Predators before moving to Murrayfield in 2015 as an Under 16. After four strong seasons with Murrayfield Under 16s and Under 20s, scoring 63 goals and 60 assists in 48 appearances while also appearing at Conference level for Scotland on 20 occasions, he was called up for GB duty at Under 18s in 2018-19. He made his SNL Racers senior debut in the same season, racking up 7+13 in 16 games in regular season.

Reid made the move south to join Chelmsford Chieftains after the Covid hiatus then made the jump to NIHL National with Raiders. Returning to Chieftains, he bagged 4+13 from 29 appearances, with Chelmsford ending the 2023-24 season on a high as NIHL South 1 Britton Play Off  Champions. Last season he made the move north and joined up with Whitley Warriors.

An injury kept him out of the roster for a large part of last season but he is now relishing the opportunity to get back on the ice.

“After my season being cut short due to injury last year, coming back was an easy decision,” Reid said. “With both the fans and players being so welcoming Whitley was a good place to play last season. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience in the Scottish league to help the team push for silverware this year.

“Ethan was having a good season when he sustained his injury but we both know there is more to come from him,” Head Coach Tony Hand said. “I am delighted that he is back in the D for the coming season and he knows all the teams we will be facing in the SNL.”

Welcome back Ethan!
