Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Anthony Wetherell for the season ahead.
Another product of Whitley’s successful junior programme, Wetherell started out in 2013-14 icing with the Under 15s and the Under 18s, progressing to fulfil the role of alternate captain for the former the following season.
The forward then divided his ice time between the Under 18s and the Under 20s in his 2016-17 campaign further to making 11 appearances for the Warriors in which he recorded his first senior goal and assist.
Though primarily icing for the Under 20s in the two seasons which followed, Wetherell also made 13 appearances for the Warriors within that time frame before completing his first full season with the senior side. The 25-year-old has been a regular in the Warriors roster since but missed much of the 2024-25 season because of an injury.
“Anth missed a lot of last season but when he came back he looked sharp and contributed to the team,” Head Coach Tony Hand said. “I’m looking forward to seeing him back and fit this year.”
“I am happy to be back and looking forward to the new season and new adventures!” Anth said.
