Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Matty Betham.
21-year-old Betham is Maroon and Gold through and through having only played for Whitley Bay, starting in 2016 with the Under 15s. By 2018 he was named Under 15s alternate captain, a role he would reprise in 2021 with the Under 18s. He made his senior debut the same year and has built on his talent since. Last season was his best yet in a Warriors shirt and gave him a chance to display his game around the net but also on the blue line.
“I’m looking forward to a different challenge and new chapter for the club,” Matty said. “Very excited to get started again.”
Head Coach Tony Hand has been impressed by Betham’s performances. “Matty had a solid season last year and played both forward and on occasion D,” he said. “He always gives 100% to the team and is a real asset.”
