Robbie returns and Skippy moves to the bench

Warriors signings 2025-26 - Robbie Pamphilon and Shaun Kippin are Assistant Coaches

Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that Robbie Pamphilon will return as Assistant Coach for 2025-26, while former captain Shaun Kippin takes his first steps in senior coaching, also as Assistant Coach.

Pamphilon was Assistant Coach at Swindon Wildcats between 2013 and 2021 before moving to Tyneside two years ago, bringing with him a wealth of experience in coaching at the then-EPL and equivalent level. He now heads into his third year with Whitley Warriors.

“I’m excited for the new challenge in the SNL and working with the young players coming though into one of our strongest sides so far,” Robbie told us.

Kippin captained Warriors last season until an arm injury cut his season short. He has however been coaching at junior level for some time and continued to do so when he wasn’t able to ice for Whitley.

“I’m obviously gutted to have to end my playing career this,” Shaun said. “It’s been five months since the incident and I still don’t have full use of my hand or shoulder.

“However I was over the moon to receive the call from Tony to help out with the coaching. I have a strong bond with the players and wanted to be a part of the future. I’m really excited for this season, we’ve got some great youngsters coming in who will make a difference.”

Head Coach Tony Hand spoke about his new-look coaching team. “It was an obvious blow to the team to lose Skippy last year and after finding out he would not be able to play this year I had no hesitation in inviting him to the join the coaching team,” he said. “Skippy has been sitting his coaching badges for a couple of years now and can make the transition. I am pleased to have him on the bench for this coming season.

“Rob will be going into his third season with us. He has grown every year and I look forward to working with him again this year.”
