Warriors head into Sunday’s clash with the Telford Tigers with a strong roster of players for player/coach David Longstaff to choose from. The only senior players missing from the Whitley squad look to be the experienced duo of Dean Holland and Alex Lawson.
Dean is out with a long term injury he suffered in a pre season game while Alex took a knock to his knee last weekend. Alex visited hospital during the week to have his injury assessed and unfortunately it would appear his knee injury will keep him out of action for a considerable period of time.
Warriors assistant coach Dave Holland shared his views on his sides clash with Telford on Sunday evening at Hillheads (face off 5pm).
“The Telford game will be a tough one for us, we were 2-0 down away from home when we played them last weekend and we did well to come back and claim a point in that match up.
“Telford are a very good side much different to the side who played Warriors a couple of seasons ago. A number of their team train with their English Premier League side and they have many talented youngsters available to them.
“They have a very good netminder in young Denis Bell and some talented forwards who can get them goals. James Smith got a hatrick against us last week and he will be a danger as will Callum Bowley who picked up 3 assists in the same game.”
Warriors game with the Telford Tigers faces off at 5pm tickets are priced at £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for juniors while a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) can be bought for £24. This week’s match night programme includes an in depth interview with Whitley’s summer signing Joe Stamp as well as all the normal features, statistics and hockey quiz.
