Whitley Warriors get their 2015/16 NIHL North Division 1 campaign back underway this weekend having had a break in fixtures due to the festive period. Warriors welcome forward Adam Reynolds back into their match night squad following the player’s decision to resume playing after a short spell away from the ice.
Warriors Head Coach David Longstaff has also confirmed that winger Callum Watson will also be back in the squad after missing Whitley’s last match up while the experienced Dean Holland will also take to the ice in Blackburn as he continues to recover well from a pelvic injury sustained in a pre season match up.
Whitley go into the game 7 points behind Hawks in the standings though Warriors do now have a game in hand over the league leaders. Blackburn have been in tremendous form of late as Danny Mackriel’s side have netted 28 goals in their last 2 league games as Hawks got the better of Sutton Sting by a 13-1 scoreline before they chalked up a 15-2 victory against the Sheffield Spartans on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Warriors have faced Blackburn 3 times so far this season and have won 1 drawn 1 and lost 1 of the games to date a commendable record against a side who have almost lost 1 league match up during the last 2 league campaigns. Sunday’s game gets underway at 5.45pm in Lancashire and it is hoped that Whitley can be the first team to get a positive result at Blackburn’s rink this season.
