OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Whitley Warriors | UK Ice Hockey Players Association (UKIHPA)
Whitley Warriors, with the continued support of the UK Ice Hockey Players Association (UKIHPA), wish to provide an update regarding the ongoing appeals involving Owen Yarrow and Head Coach Tony Hand.
Both appeals have now been scheduled for Monday 2 November, following this weekend’s fixtures against Solway Sharks and Edinburgh Capitals.
Whilst we appreciate the work involved in arranging an independent appeals panel, we are naturally disappointed that the hearings could not take place ahead of this weekend’s games.
Willie Dunn, Whitley Warriors General Manager, said:
“As a club with the backing of the owners. we have worked closely with UKIHPA to ensure both appeals are supported by detailed evidence. We are disappointed with the timescales, particularly given the fixtures already missed, but we respect the process and look forward to both cases being heard on Monday.”
Gareth Hale, Director of UKIHPA, said:
“Our priority throughout has been to ensure Owen and Tony receive fair consideration and appropriate representation.
“We recognise the challenges involved in coordinating an independent appeals panel, although we had hoped the matters could be resolved before another weekend of fixtures.
“We remain committed to working constructively with all parties and look forward to presenting both cases on Monday.”
Out of respect for the ongoing appeals process, Whitley Warriors and UKIHPA will make no further public statement at this stage.
