Warriors announce more netminders

Mark Turnbull and Rory Dunn

Whitley Warriors today announce more players for the 2018-19 season roster. Hot on the heels of the announcements of Richie Lawson and Jordan Boyle, Warriors are pleased to add to their netminding options with Mark Turnbull and Rory Dunn.

23-year-old Mark Turnbull came through the junior system at Whitley Bay, icing for Warriors between the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons before opting to expand his experience with Wiarton Rock and Toronto Attack in Canada. Mark returned to Whitley Warriors last season, recording an 89.81% save average from 688 minutes on the ice including several appearances as starting netminder. Mark said, “I’m happy to have been asked back for another year and I look forward to building on what was achieved last season.”

Rory Dunn, 33, has iced for Sunderland Chiefs, Billingham Bombers and Newcastle ENL Vipers over the years but we’re most used to seeing him in the maroon and gold. Rory spoke of the upcoming season: “I’m happy to be in the squad again for the third year looking forward to getting back on the ice for pre-season to help the team as much as I can. Hopefully we can have a successful season and make a playoff spot.”

Look out for more player announcements coming soon!
