Unfortunately Whitley Warriors have had to opt out of taking part in the NIHL North Cup (for sides in the Moralee and Laidler Conferences) during the 2013/14 campaign.
Warriors had intended to take part in the tournament, however following lengthy discussions between a number of bodies it became apparent that Whitley would not be able to participate in the competition this term. Warriors were regrettably unable to secure the necessary ice time at their Hillheads rink which would have allowed the club to host the needed number of home games in the competition.
The late finalisation of the format of the competition alongside an increased number of junior games being played at Hillheads this term left little room for maneuver with regards to acquiring the necessary number of game slots that Warriors would have needed to fully participate in the NIHL North Cup.
Warriors may not be be icing in the NIHL North Cup this campaign however Simon Leach’s side have plenty of league action in the next couple of weekends as Whitley travel to Sheffield to take on Spartans this Saturday (face off 3.45pm) before a double header of fixtures the following weekend.
Whitley travel to the north west to take on Manchester Minotaurs on Saturday October 5th (face off 5pm) before hosting Telford Titans the following day, Sunday 6th October (face off 5pm). Warriors vs Titans games are usually incident packed matches and this contest should prove no different as both sides will be going all out to secure the points on offer.
