Whitley Warriors have named their captain and alternate captains for the 2018-19 season.
Dean Holland will lead Warriors as captain, retaining his role of three seasons.
Jordan Barnes returns as one of the alternate captains, a role he has also held for three seasons, while the other alternate captain role goes to defenceman Sam Zajac.
“I’m honoured to lead the Warriors out again this season,” Dean told us. “Along with Jordan and Sammy, I think we have a good leadership group. But there are lots of leaders in the room, lots of older faces who are vital parts to the team.”
“I’m really happy to be an A again,” Jordan said. “I hope we can have a good year this year and push for the play offs – we have a great group of lads and we will be putting everything in throughout the year.”
Sam was equally enthusiastic. “It’s a real privilege to be named as one of the alternate captains for the Warriors this season. We’ve made some exciting additions and we can’t wait to test ourselves in a league that looks like it has gone up in standard once again. Training has been going well and we hope to bring some entertaining and competitive games to Hillheads throughout the year.”
The 2018-19 season gets underway on Saturday 1 September with an away game at Hull Pirates before the first game at home on Sunday 2 September when Telford Tigers will be the visitors.
