Warriors to face Stars in local derby ahead of play offs

Whitley Warriors host the Billingham Stars this weekend in a challenge game ahead of the NIHL North Moralee Conference Play Offs with both sides keen to perform well ahead of the championship weekend in Dumfries in mid April.

Warriors will be without 2 of their young players as both Ben Richards and Callum Read are currently representing Great Britain under 18s in the World Championships for their age group. To date Ben has been able to pick up a goal and an assist in the 3 games he has played while d man Callum has logged a number of shifts back on the blue line.

Whitley should still have a strong squad available for the their clash with Billingham though and Warriors leading points scorer this term Adam Reynolds looks forward to his sides clash with their local rivals Stars.

“Sunday’s game against Billingham should be a good competitive game as both sides get ready to go into the play offs. We want to maintain our impressive home form against Stars and put on another good performance.

“We’ve done well to qualify for the play offs this season and there’s no reason why we can’t go on and win them.”

Warriors encounter with Billingham faces off at 5pm this Sunday evening and is Whitley’s last home game of the 2013/14 campaign. Fans are encouraged to come along and show their support for the team ahead of the end of season play off tournament up in Scotland.

Tickets are still available for the play offs and can be obtained by visiting http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/search/Dumfries+Ice+Bowl+Dumfries if Warriors fans could state they are supporting Whitley at the tournament that would be very much appreciated.
