Whitley Warriors can today announce that the team captain for 2019-20 is Dean Holland and the alternate captains are Jordan Barnes and Harry Harley.
This season will be Dean Holland’s fifth leading the Warriors, a role he is happy to reprise. “I’m very honoured to have been asked to be captain again,” he told us. “Hopefully we can make this season very successful.”
Jordan Barnes has been an alternate captain for four seasons and was equally enthusiastic. “I’m very happy to be named A for another year!” he said. “We have a young team this year, so we will have to lead by example a little more. The group of lads know what to expect this year and we will all be pulling in the same direction to win the league.”
He added, “On a personal note, I’m proud every year I get to wear a warriors jersey and even better with an A on the shirt.”
Harry Harley takes over the other alternate captain role from Sam Zajac, who left Warriors to be player/coach of Leeds Chiefs at the end of last season.
“I am delighted to be named as an alternate captain for this year,” Harry said. “The way the team has shaped up in the off season it’s hopefully going to be a very successful year and I can’t wait to get started.”
The new season gets underway in September and fixtures can be seen here.
