Whitley Warriors sponsor Morrisinghs has been shortlisted for the Heart of the Community award, part of the North Tyneside Business Awards.
The Heart of the Community award is to encourage North Tyneside residents to say thank you to a business which has made a significant contribution to their local area.
Morrisinghs convenience store in West Allotment is Warriors’ Man of the Match sponsor and managing director Jel Nagra told the Evening Chronicle, “We feel very proud and humbled to have been nominated by the local community and it was a lovely surprise.”
Jel has been involved in several community projects including cleaning and replanting of the planters in the village and helping with litter picks.
During the winter months, the team go the extra mile by looking out for the elderly, making sure they have the necessities by providing home deliveries where possible.
Jel has also supported local residents such as sponsoring a local world champion, Claire Clement who is from West Allotment and, of course, Whitley Warriors.
The Heart of the Community awards will be presented following a public vote that closes at 8pm on Thursday 21 November.
North Tyneside Business Forum will host a glittering awards night on 21 November at Village Hotel, another Warriors sponsor.
