Defenceman Harry Harley has received the EIHA’s Player of the Month award for January after being shortlisted alongside fellow Warriors Phil Edgar and Rolands Gritāns.
As Whitley’s second top points scoring defenceman, Harley achieved 2 goals and 5 assists in January’s 4 league games besides accomplishing 3 goals and 3 assists in the Warriors’ two-legged NIHL North Cup semi-final against local rivals Billingham Stars. The blue liner’s brace against the Stars in Whitley’s 8-3 cup win over the Teessiders was particularly impressive, the Warrior wreaking havoc to fire home an unassisted shot at the midpoint of the second period before rounding up the stanza with his second goal of the game. Instrumental to the Warriors’ success this season, Harley’s contribution in front of the net means he is currently Whitley’s fifth highest points scorer with 23 points from 17 league games further to being the third top points scoring ‘D’ man in the league.
Playing with commendable speed, skill and accuracy on the blue line, Harry is a deserving winner of this award and everyone at Whitley Warriors would like to congratulate him on his accomplishment.
