Whitley Warriors are happy to announce the return of Alternate Captain Jordan Barnes to their roster for the 2021-22 campaign.

Heading into his twelfth season at the club, having played all of his senior ice hockey at Hillheads, 28-year-old power forward Barnes won consecutive league titles with the Warriors between 2009 and 2011 and, as part of Whitley’s on-ice leadership team, his efforts were critical in helping his side to secure league silverware again in 2020.

A demanding physical presence on the ice, Barnes is also proficient in front of the net, notably registering his best points tally of 15 goals and 14 assists in 35 league games during his 2017-18 campaign. Barnes also recorded more than 20 points per season for three consecutive campaigns from 2016 to 2019 and he will strive to replicate this feat when he takes to the ice again in September.

Speaking of his return to the club, Barnes told us yesterday, “I am really happy to be back this season. It feels like we have been away forever and it feels like we have unfinished business with missing out on the playoffs due to Covid. I’m just looking forward to skating out at the wigwam with a crowd there again and to hopefully give the fans some entertainment. Come on you Warriors! See you guys soon!”

Welcome back, Jordan!
