Whitley Warriors are happy to announce the re-signing of skilled 24-year-old forward Callum Queenan.
Having progressed through the junior ranks at Whitley Bay to make his debut with the Warriors in their 2013-14 campaign, Queenan quickly impressed and went on to play a further two seasons at Hillheads. Whilst playing his second senior season of ice hockey, Queenan was called up to represent Team GB at the World Junior Championships, icing in 5 games with the Under 18s side further to winning a bronze medal at the tournament.
After lining up with Whitley for a third consecutive campaign, Queenan opted for three seasons in the GMHL with Canada’s Meaford Knights, tallying 35 goals and 50 assists in 104 league games.
A return to the Warriors’ line-up in 2019 saw Queenan average a point per league game to help his side achieve silverware success and he will hope that he can continue from where he left off when he takes to the ice with Whitley again this season.
“I’m happy to be back and I’m looking forward to seeing and playing with the lads again,” Queenan told us when speaking of his decision to remain with the Warriors. “I know there are a couple of new teams in the league this season so it will be exciting to see where that goes. Hopefully we can continue with where we left off last year. It will be nice to have a catch up with fans as well.”
Welcome back, Callum!
