Whitley Warriors are pleased to confirm the re-signing of long-serving forward Callum Watson who heads into his fifteenth consecutive season at the club.
Bringing much experience to Whitley’s roster, Watson made his debut during the Warriors’ 2006-07 campaign and he has remained at the club ever since.
Proving to be highly influential in front of the net throughout his career, Watson also represented Team GB at the World Junior Championships in his 2008-09 campaign, notching 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games at the tournament to help the Under 18s side achieve a gold medal.
Watson’s firepower has stood the Warriors in good stead over the years with the forward notably finding himself Whitley’s top points scorer in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013, collecting 49 points on both occasions, and more recently he contributed 14 points in 20 league games to finish Whitley’s title-winning campaign as one of the team’s top ten points scorers.
“I’m looking forward to getting back after such a long time off,” Watson shared when speaking of his decision to re-sign for the club yesterday. “Playing in front of the fans again will be something special and hopefully we can bring some excitement back for them on a Sunday night.”
Welcome back, Callum!
