Whitley Warriors are thrilled to announce that they have secured the services of netminder Dean Bowater for the 2021-22 season.

22-year-old Bowater started out with Kingston Sharks’ Under 16s side in 2011, remaining with the team for three seasons before moving to Bradford Bulldogs in 2014 where he played 3 games in NIHL 2 further to icing for both Bradford and Sheffield’s Under 16s and Under 18s outfits.

In his 2015-16 campaign, Bowater divided his ice time between the Bulldogs and Hull, and recorded a save percentage of 92% for both Bradford and Kingston’s Under 18s teams. Icing for Hull Jets for a further four seasons, the shot stopper most recently made 15 appearances in the side’s 2019-20 title-winning campaign whilst also featuring in 6 league games with Nottingham Lions in NIHL 1.

Speaking of his decision to join Whitley, Bowater, who will wear shirt #1 this season, told us today, “I am delighted to have signed with the Warriors. I’ve enjoyed my time in Hull and feel it’s time to step up and move on. I can’t wait to get the new season underway and build on what the Warriors achieved last season.”

“We welcome Dean onto our roster and he will give our netminding setup strength in depth,” General Manager Paul Matthews informed us. “Dean is a North East lad who has played for different clubs, gaining valuable experience and, at 22 years old, he has his best years ahead of him and he has a great opportunity to stake his place in the team.”

Welcome to Whitley Warriors, Dean!
