Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce the re-signing of hardworking forward Ross Douglass.
Now heading into his fifth season at the club, 22-year-old Douglass progressed through Whitley’s junior ranks, icing with the Tomahawks and the Braves and fulfilling the role of alternate captain for both sides.
Douglass made his senior debut with the Warriors in his 2016-17 campaign, playing 17 league games in NIHL North 1 further to captaining the Braves and racking up 36 points in 15 league games for Whitley Renegades in the Under 20s league. In the two seasons which followed, Douglass continued to divide his ice time between the Warriors and the Renegades, notably achieving 10 goals and 11 assists in 14 league games for the latter during their 2018-19 season.
The forward then completed his transition to the senior team, icing in all but one league game for the Warriors to contribute 3 goals and 4 assists during their title-winning campaign whilst also proving to be one of the side’s most disciplined players, serving just 2 penalty minutes.
Speaking yesterday about his decision to re-sign for the club, Douglass, who will wear shirt #16 this campaign, told us, “I’m excited to get back on the ice and to see what this season can bring. Having the last 18 months off has been a complete change to seeing the lads week in, week out but hopefully we can pick up from where we left off and push to retain the league title.”
Welcome back, Ross!
