Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of young netminder Ryan Wardell.
Wardell, 18, is a product of Billingham’s junior system, making his debut in the Under 15s in 2016 alongside many of the Stars’ current senior team. He has spent most of his career at Billingham, with loan spells at Kingston Sharks and Raiders at Under 18 level. Last season he spent some time at Bradford Bulldogs, recording one shut out in his 13 games.
“I understand that Tony and Willie have high expectations,” Wardell told us. “I look forward to working together with them and the lads to bring some success to the Warriors.”
“When Josh Crane informed me he was looking elsewhere we had to move quickly to find a replacement and Ryan fits the bill,” Head Coach Tony Hand said. “I’ve had very good feedback from national team coaches and he’s a player I look forward to working with.”
