Whitley Warriors are delighted to confirm the re-signing of experienced defenceman Liam Smedley.
27-year-old Smedley iced for Newcastle Vipers, Northern Stars and Billingham Stars junior clubs before moving to the Whitley junior set up in 2013-14. He made his senior debut in 2014-15 and has proven valuable in defence over the seasons he has had in maroon and gold. After some time away from the game, he rejoined Warriors late in the 2023-24 season and is eager to get started on the new campaign.
“I’m excited to be back. I feel like this is a bit of a fresh start for the club,” Liam told us. “There’s some good youngsters coming through so hopefully we can kick on and have a successful season.
“Liam was ever present for us in D last year, he always gives 100% and is a great team member,” Head Coach Tony Hand said.
