Whitley Warriors have 2 games this weekend as David Longstaff’s side travel south to face the Sutton Sting on Saturday before a local derby against the Billingham Stars on home ice at Hillheads on Sunday evening.
Warriors are still without Alex Lawson who is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the current campaign, all of the remaining players in the Whitley set up could well take to the ice this weekend though there are a couple of players on the Warriors roster who will have to prove fitness ahead of this weekend’s game.
Whitley have won their last 3 games in NIHL North action and Warriors will be looking to increase their winning streak this weekend and pressurise the Blackburn Hawks who currently sit in 1st position in the Division 1 table 5 points ahead of Whitley though Warriors do have a game in hand on their rivals.
DJ Good Warriors long serving forward shared his views on this weekend’s games.
“Both of the games we have this weekend look hard to predict, Sutton sit 2nd from bottom in the league but they consistently take points off the top teams so we know we are in for a tough game against the Sting on their own ice.
“The Billingham game is obviously a local derby so again it’s a hard one to predict but it’s a game everyone looks forward to. Hopefully there will be a big crowd and a good atmosphere and an intense, physical hard fought game.”
